- Overview
More trails than Bear Peak, is the original part of the ski area. The resort opened for the 1966-67 ski season, with a double going up to the top and a "double-double," two double chairs that use the same set of lift towers for the most part and contain their drive housing under the same roof. The East Double-Double has a half-way point and the West Double-Double does not. these lifts both end at the same point. The original summit chair is still operational, but a new triple chair was installed, expanding the mountain a little bit, but increasing uphill capacity. on windy days, the triple will not run, and the original summit chair will. In between these chairs, is the Flying Yankee. This is a high-speed detachable quad lift, and ends at the middle of the mountain. on the west side of the mountain is the beginners area, with a triple chair and a "magic carpet" surface lift. along with the west side is the "Adventure Center" which contains the rental facility and the lessons programs. over on the east side of the mountain, the main lodge is located, where there is a cafeteria, a pub upstairs, "Ptarmigans Pub," and a ski shop.
