Eaglecrest Ski Area

Overview 

Eagle crest ski area is on a glacial valley on an island off the Alaskan capital of Juneau. Eaglecrest is only a handfull of hunderd of metres (sorry feet!) above sea level so you will not see the angel flatulence of powder you may see at places like lake Louise... However, at least when I was there, there was an ubundance of snow and terrian, that with a handfull of lifts, would out most Aussie resorts to shame...

The most interesting fact about Eaglecrest: It is owned and run by local goverment! Yes, thats right, a Ski resort ranks along side ovals in good old Alaska!

Good snowfall, cheap, easy to get to from Juneau (shuttle bus)

Cons

Small, runs short by North American standards. Old lifts.
