Overview

A smaller resort (3 major lifts) on the other side of the Tetons from Jackson Hole. It has limited in resort accommodation, and most of its clientele are locals or people who have commuted across from Jackson Hole by bus or car for a change. Busy at weekends but almost deserted during the week.

Targhee has an abundance of open or lightly gladed terrain with an almost perfect pitch for the intermediate to advanced powderhound. The low volumes mean that the freshies can last for days (unlike the relentless destruction characteristic of Jackson Hole.)

Location

The Grand Teton from Grand Targhee
Grand Targhee is in Wyoming (although you have to enter Idaho to get there). The nearest towns are Driggs and Victor in Idaho. The nearest locality is Alta. It is on the other side of the Tetons from Jackson Hole.
