Horse riding in Victoria is a popular pastime. Horse riding can vary from easy paddock riding to extreme cliff edge riding. Many horse riding organisers map out the course of the treck to maximise the riders experiances.

Most horse ridings only last half a day, but there also some overnight horse riding tours available.

Many people in Victoria become excited to participate in horse riding due to the popular local movie shot in the area, The Man From the Snowy River. This movie is about a Australian horse rider who overcomes many barriers out in the Victorian Alps. A popular scene from the movie is the extract where the leading character and the supporters ride their horses down a steep slope with their backs leaning backwards, all shot in slow motion.
