Overview

Once a small family oriented ski area, Mt Rose was able to offer little more than close proximity to Reno and high base elevation as it's key selling points . In the last 10 years however, Mt Rose has undergone a stunning transformation with the installation of two high speed six-pack chairs, the inclusion of "The Chutes" expert terrain into the ski area and most recently the opening of the new "Winters Creek" Lodge on the East Bowl side. Expert terrain aside, Mt Rose carries a friendly ambience with a relaxed feel and still remains ideal for families.

Location

Mt Rose Ski Resort is perched near the top of the Mount Rose Highway which links Reno with Incline Village on the north east shore of Lake Tahoe. It is 25 miles from the casinos of downtown Reno and 11 miles from Lake Tahoe.

Pros

  • World class steeps and chutes
  • Spectacular views of Reno and Wahoe Valley.
  • New Winters Creek Lodge (December 2009).

Cons

  • Smaller resort.
  • Limited views of Lake Tahoe.
