- Overview
Trysil (aka Trysilfjellet, which translates as Trysil Mountain) is one of Norway's largest alpine ski resorts.
Contents |
Location
Norways biggest resort, about 3.5 hrs out of Oslo, close to the Sweedish border.
Pros
Big for Norway. Longish runs, steep runs (steeper than Hemsedal anyway)
Cons
Annoying village and not the best aftersi/nightlife.

Getting There
Trysil is about 3 hours North North East of Norway near the border with Sweden. It is a realatively simple drive up the E6 turning off at "Stange" to the right to head up the 3/25 on to Elverum and continue following 25 to Trysil.
You can also drive from Sweden (eg Stockholm or Gotenborg, but the driving time is considerably longer).

Bars & Entertainment
Afterski here is not as good as Hemsedal, but it is still typically Norwegian ... i.e. very stupidly drunk and funny ... you have to se it to believe it. Free buses run from the major drinking parts on one side of the mountain to the other, so you cheap punters will be fine ... but you dont go to Norway for cheap parties ...

Ride Guide
Report from 6/3/2007 Just back from a fantastic weekend's skiing in Trysil, just near the sweedish border in Norway. Apparently this has been an average to ordinary snow season, but there was still over 1m of snow at the lowest elevations (~400m). Snow was beautifully dry, and the mountain was huge. Unfortunately weather was crappy so you can't get a good idea of how big this mountain is from the photos.
All perfectly groomed, with lovely rollovers for some air. The only downside was too many Tbars and not quite enough snow for off piste stuff. Afterski was awesome!
