- Overview
No skiing or boarding here - it is a snowplay destination, but very close to Melbourne. Doesn't get a lot of snow regularly, but a good place to take kids to see it for the first time after a lower elevation snowfall.

Planning
Getting There
From Melbourne, take the Maroondah Highway (B 360) to Lilydale and the Warburton Highway (B 380) to Warburton. At the eastern end of town turn onto the Acheron Way (C 507). Continue to the junction with the Donna Buang Road (C 505). This is a toll road when there is decent snow. The road is sealed all the way to the summit area carpark.
Accommodation
On Mountain
There is a new place called Chrispies crank shack for the best food to eat and sleep
Off Mountain
At Warburton, Yarra Junction or Marysville.
Equipment Hire
Tobaggans can be hired from a handful of shops down in Warburton and Narbethong and occasionally on the mountain. The Shell service station on the main street of Warburton often hires out toboggans.
Resort Facilities
A large, but rather grotty shelter, a toilet block and an enormous fire tower with a curious double helix staircase. That's it.
Getting Around
No need for cars or busses. The snow play area at Mt Donna Buang is about the size of your local footy ground.
Parking
in the car park
Activities
Walking
Donna has a good selection of hikes, most are summer walks but an experienced and well equipped group can do them in winter too. See http://wikiski.com/wiki/index.php/Bush_Walking#Mt._Donna_Buang .
Dining
A shelter hut is open all year round, a caravan often sells food and drink in the snow season.
Bars & Entertainment
Gosh no. Look off mountain. There are lots of cafes in Warbuton. The pub in Wesburn has very good parmas.
Ride Guide
No skiing, only tobbogganing.

History
A small ski village with six runs and a large ski jump existed prior to World War II. Some was burnt in the Black Friday fires of 1939, most of the rest was dismantled and moved to other resorts, (notably Mt Buller) after the war. One ruined lodge remains in the trees at the base of a former ski run.
