Getting There

The walk from the carpark is as scenic and as invigorating as it gets and there's a flying fox for your gear 1/2 way up, whilst you walk around the valley through which the "Manganui Monster", an occassional avalanche does rage.

The surrounding goblin forest is a wonderful walk and the hardy trampers (bushwalkers) have a myriad of trails around the mountain to tramp (hike) about on and stay in all sorts of quaint huts with like minded trampers (that is you'd meet some very interesting people).

Off Piste

A t bar on the intermediate part of the field and a horrid access toe and more horrid upper tow, which apparently is legendary. 2 of the offspring , skiers think it's great, but for snowboarders even facing this tow as a goofy it's quite a task. Top tow conditions can be very good and the only time I got there it was a buzz.Never have been back up because the tow further stuffed up a tendonitis affected wrist I had at the time. Having said that the sturdy group of members who labour over summer to prepare the tussock and do all the maintenance stuff are surely rewarded by some excellent uncrowded days mid week, except last season which was a disaster.
